SIC’s nominee for Punjab CM says will spring surprise

Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) nominee for Punjab Chief Minister Rana Aftab on Sunday said that his party will spring its surprise tomorrow in terms of completing number games in Punjab Assembly.

Speaking to media in Lahore, Aftab said: “We are not being given our reserved seats. The house is not complete yet.”

He took a jibe at the political opponents, saying, “This is a dual standard that the KP Assembly session is not being summoned.”

Earlier on Saturday, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan had officially been sworn in as the new Speaker of the Assembly. He took the oath of office administered by outgoing Speaker Sabtain Khan.

Earlier, the Punjab Assembly concluded the counting process for the election of the Speaker, marking a pivotal moment in the region’s political landscape. Malik Ahmad Khan, representing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), emerged victorious as the newly elected Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, securing a significant mandate from the assembly members.
